Plans for a new £100 million biomass power plant have been announced by First Minister Alex Salmond.
Mr Salmond visited the proposed site of the 45 megawatt combined heat and power (CHP) biomass plant at the Tullis Russell paper mill at Markinch in Fife.
The plant will provide steam and electricity for the mill, but about two-thirds of its power is expected to go onto the national grid.
The Scottish Government will provide £8.1 million through Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grant aid for the project, which is a joint venture between energy supplier RWE npower Cogen and Tullis Russell.
