Fresh planning bid for £80m biomass plant in Lincolnshire

Renewable energy developer Eco2 has re-submitted a planning application for an £80 million biomass plant in south Lincolnshire, after narrowly losing out in a planning vote last month.
The Cardiff-based company confirmed yesterday that it will continue to appeal the decision by local authority planners to throw out the original plans for the straw-powered 40MW facility to be built at Sleaford, near Grantham.
But, hedging its bets the company sent in a fresh application last week, proposing a slightly lower roof for the Sleaford Renewable Energy Plant, since the main concern among the councillors opposing the project had been its visual impact.
Commenting on the re-submission of the plans, Eco2 chief executive David Williams said:
