Valmet Forest Machine Manufacturer Komatsu Forest has launched Maxi Harvester 3.7 it is Valmet’s latest software package in the Maxi system and includes a range of new functions.

Valmet Maxi Harvester 3.7 complies with, among other things, the procedures for quality-assured harvester measurements and features regression calibration and pri files.

The forestry industry places even greater demands on contractors. Valmet’s Maxi control system can provide operators with more assistance for planning, reviews and reports on their daily production.

One of the most important new features is that it complies with the new procedure for quality-assured harvester measurement, which improves the accuracy of harvester measurement data created by the machine and its driver. Quality-assured harvester measurement means that the driver still measures the logs as a control with computer calipers, although a range of new functions have been developed and added. Maxi Harvester 3.7 selects a sample tree at random, which it will then measure as a control. The driver is alerted that the tree is a sample tree once a section of the trunk has been processed, although at this stage the machine-measured values are not visible to the driver. The control files that are created after the sample trees are measured can then be sent to the employer or to a third party for analysis of length and diameter measurements.

Another new feature is regression calibration, which quite simply allows greater accuracy when calibrating the entire diameter range, despite being quick to use and requiring relatively few measurement values. The new Maxi Harvester 3.7 has made it much easier and quicker to manage stm files for control measurements, regardless of whether trees are sample ones chosen at random or those selected manually.

Maxi Harvester 3.7 can also create individual production files or pri files. This is a file type that will be of greater significance in the future than the current prd files. The pri files store production data, for example, on the length, diameter, species and quality of each individual log.
