HEAVY DUTY VALMET HARVESTING HEAD FOR TRACKED MACHINES
Summary of Report
Valmet Forest Machine Manufacturer Komatsu Forest’s latest harvester head, the Valmet 370E, is built primarily for use on standard tracked machines.
This head is tough and reliable, and is based on well-proven technology. The 370E harvester head has a robust chassis and a sturdy construction, built to cope with the demands of running on an excavator.
"The fact that we developed the 370E in North America and Brazil in close contact with end-users has proven very beneficial to us," states Gunnar Nilsson, a technician at Komatsu Forest. "The Valmet 370E has a powerful feed in order to handle the really heavy trees, and with two steel feed rollers the feed is fast without substantial damage to the timber."
The head has five custom-designed debarking knives developed and tested in Brazil to handle the tough challenges associated with debarking eucalyptus trees. A special control program (patent pending) for optimizing the debarking of eucalyptus is also included. In addition, the Valmet 370E has effective hydraulics that adapt to the host machine’s hydraulic capacity.
The head also has room for a second cutting unit, a top saw, to further speed the cutting process. With Komatsu Forest’s specially developed installation kit, the Valmet 370E can be fitted quickly and easily to the Komatsu PC210.
