Two Examples of Quality Wood Pellets Packed full of Energy
Today wood pellets are formed by compressing dry, ground wood fibre or sawdust, creating a valuable and high density wood energy commodity for use in industrial or automated domestic heating systems.
Typically the calorific energy value is that of 70% of coal and 50% of domestic heating oil. During pelleting of wood fibre, volume is reduced by up to 5 times thus maximising the energy content and increasing the bulk density/cubic metre, usually resulting in diversion of sawmill sawdust from disposal to produce a useful energy commodity. Further more when pelletized the amount of energy per delivered tonne increases thus ensuring economic benefit in the whole supply chain while promoting efficiency of combustion to produce warmth from the world’s most dependable and accessible form of renewable energy - Biomass, naturally stored energy from the sun.
The most obvious physical benefits are the ability of pellets to flow during transportation. Typically wood pellet is produced in two sizes, 6mm or 8mm in diameter relatively dust free and supplied in various sizes of easy to carry small sacks, delivered in bulk bags of 850kg or where available can be blown loose from a lorry to a storage tank. Quality is of utmost importance, usually visually depicted by the amount of fines in the sack or the sheen on the surface of the pellet illustrating the care taken to produce this Eco Friendly product.
