New life for old paper mill site
Summary of Report
One of the UK\'s biggest sawmill firms has bought the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site in Fort William.
BSW Timber already employs 88 people at its existing sawmill on a neighbouring site at Corpach.
It plans to spend £25m relocating and expanding its operations, creating 45 jobs and more than doubling its output at Fort William.
The company said a further 100 jobs would be created indirectly within its supply and distribution chain.
More than 120 jobs were lost when Arjo Wiggins pulled out of Corpach after more than three decades.
Work on developing the 67-acre site is due to start in the summer, with BSW transferring its operations over the next two years.
The company operates six sawmills in the UK and one in Latvia.
